Supplier Accreditation Service
The European Safety Bureau Food Supplier Accreditation service has been developed to help food suppliers demonstrate that they operate to an acceptable standard of food safety. The scheme is operated by The European Safety Bureau who have worked in the catering and food retail industry for over 25 years and employs a team of Environmental Health Consultants to carry out auditing and mentoring. It is based upon an audit procedure which is aimed at not only promoting realistic standards for each food supplier or manufacturer but also will assist in demonstrating ‘due diligence’ for the business. Accreditation visits are carried out on an annual basis. The auditor will work closely with the business manager to ensure that they understand the audit protocol and its practical implementation. The visits will be organised to ensure that disruption to business is minimised and maximum benefit will be achieved. Food Businesses which reach the required standard will receive The European Safety Bureau Accreditation Certificate, thus demonstrating to their customers their total commitment to high standards of food safety.
How Accreditation Works
The European Safety Bureau Food Supplier Accreditation service has been kept as simple as possible to ensure that no unnecessary fees are accrued and the scheme is easy to follow.
Step 1 : Register your Interest
Register your interest in joining the Accreditation Scheme either by ringing our Helpline on 0844 800 2225 or completing our online application form here.
Step 2 : Preparing for your Accreditation Audit
You will be sent a Supplier Accreditation Protocol document which contains the key standards required for successful accreditation. Once you have decided to proceed with Accreditation, you will be contacted by The Bureau to agree a suitable time for the Accreditation Audit to take place.
Step 3 : The Accreditation Audit
Your Accreditation Audit will be carried out by one of our fully qualified and experienced auditors according to the Accreditation Standard in this document. During the audit, proactive, practical advice will be given on any issue which can help your overall business performance.
Step 4 : The Outcome of the Audit
In the event of a Grade A outcome, the supplier will pass the audit and become an ESB accredited supplier.
In the event of a Grade B outcome, the supplier will be required to carry out corrective action for non-compliances and submit evidence that the action has been carried out. They will then be accepted as an ESB Accredited supplier.
In the event of a Fail, the supplier cannot be accredited by ESB until a full reaudit is undertaken with a successful outcome.
Step 5 : Ongoing Support
Accreditation lasts for 12 months and you will be able to display your certificate on your premises for this period. An annual update audit service is available. As a member of the Accreditation Scheme, you have access to The Bureau’s 24/7 Helpline on 0844 800 2225.
